Cthulhu Adorned – The Works of H.P. Lovecraft
Black goat skin leather is the night sky adorned with a starry display of gold, silver and antiqued gold hand tooled stars. Over the night sky green goatskin tentacles extend forth from a central title plate to create a macabre art nouveau pattern. Surmounting this all – hand hammered brass ornaments attached with hand made brass rivets make this tome a heavy piece of binding art. An Octopoid latch catch seams to extend from the stars and the latch itself is yet another tentacle hand hammered and polished. Along the fore edge the Call to Cthulhu is stamped in green, Ph’nglui mglw’nafh Cthulhu R’lyeh wgah’nagl fhtagn- “In his house at R’lyeh, dead Cthulhu waits dreaming”….to make this an opus to one of Lovecraft’s most popular tale. Although he wrote so many extraordinary tales one of the most iconic has become the main theme for this muti-layered Mythos binding.
If you are interested in this type of binding, an aged tome, a magickal grimoire, or other binding project email JRR Bookworks at firstname.lastname@example.org. This site has less than half of the bindings I have worked on over the last few years so I welcome almost any project- chances are I have done something like it before. Look on http://propnomicon.blogspot.com/ to see this binding featured on that amazing Mythos page.
